Best of 2024 Wedding and Family Photography

And round up of the best wedding and family photos from 2024

It’s that time again, where we make new year’s resolution and reflect on the year as a whole. It’s also that time I spend absolutely ages going through all my years work to pick out my best wedding photography and family photography from 2024…. for absolutely no reason, haha. I’m pretty late getting this blog together this time. It always feels daunting to do. However before the 2025 wedding season starts and families starts to think about updating their family photos, it’s actually really nice to look through all my clients photos and see all their happy faces and special moments that I captured throughout the year. I still LOVE photographing weddings, which is pretty unheard of when a photographer has been shooting weddings as long as I have. But every wedding is still exciting and special to me. It is never just another wedding, like another day in the office and I am genuinely so happy to still be in love with wedding photography and family photography!

My year kick off with a very special and emotive huge family photo shoot at Bolton abbey. Then it was time for the first wedding of the year at my local wedding venue, Coniston Hotel in Skipton. I was soon back at my favourite wedding venue, the Falcon Manor in Settle before shooting at pretty York wedding venue, called Burtonfields Hall, (that was a new one to me) I’ve been back to Timble inn and their new Timble church for two intimate weddings. I must mention my lovely couple, who are my oldest and sweetest yet. Lovely Sheila and Mike who booked me after a zoom meeting and making it clear they were 79 and 80 - so I might not want to photograph their wedding. Of course I wanted to shoot their wedding even more for knowing this. I’ve photographed returning families and my bestie. A highlight was a romantic surprise proposal at Coniston Hotel. I’ve also had a couple of spilt weddings this year at the Devonshire Fell and the Alma Inn, which is nice to see the whole wedding party twice. That’s enough about my year in words, here are the highlights in photos!

Why these wedding and family photos?

We all have our favourite photos for various reasons, and I think these specific images rank as my favourites from 2024, primarily because they remind me of a particular moment in time that holds significance. They beautifully convey the overall vibe of the occasion or showcase the special bond that undeniably exists between people, ultimately capturing that person’s unique essence and tells a story.

I imagine the people in the photos have their own favourites, which will be for reasons different to mine. If you do spot yourself, be sure to tell me which is your ultimate favourite.

I’m forever grateful to every engaged couple who put their trust in me as their engagement and wedding photographer. To all those wonderful families that ask me into their life’s, allowing me to capture their unique bonds and relationships during both special occasions and even the more mundane family time shared together. I extend my heartfelt appreciation. It is a genuine privilege to be part of these moments. A huge thank you to all of you who played a role (no matter how small) by simply being present in front of my lens.

You may have noticed, there’s no beautifully dressed wedding venues or wedding details or even any branding photography included in this blog. As much as I really enjoy photographing these things, I feel it’s people’s connections and interaction that tends to make a favourite photo for me. I can’t wait to get back to it in 2025. I’ll be back at my first wedding of 2025 next month at the gorgeous Thirsk Lodge Barns.
