An autumn wedding at the Coniston Hotel in Skipton
Here’s a little Q&A with Dan and Stacey
Tell us about the proposal
Dan asked my Dad and our son Jack if he could ask me to marry him. We had already talked about it and picked the ring but I didn’t know when he would ask me. Jack was there and it was a lovely moment as Jack is so happy that we are married. Can’t say it was romantic though as I was in my PJs getting ready for bed!
What venue did you choose and why did you choose it?
The Coniston Hotel Country Estate and Spa in Skipton. It was the first venue that we looked at and we fell in love with it straight away. We visited the wedding fair and the rooms were made up so beautifully. And then the scenery – I wished for dry weather on my wedding day as I really wanted to have some pictures taken by the lake. And we were so lucky – a rainy morning but it dried up for the pictures – we have had a sneak peek at some and the colours are amazing!
What was the most important investments for you and why?
Having everything in one venue. There was no worry about getting from one place to the next and we were able to spend a little time on our own between the day and the evening to reflect on the day. It goes so quickly so it was important that we had a little time to ourselves to reflect.
How/ Why did you choose your wedding photographer?
A school friend of Dan’s – we really loved Gemma’s work on facebook and after initial meeting we knew that we could work together to get some amazing pictures.
What song did you choose for your first dance, and why?
We had the same song to walk down the aisle and for the first dance. It was a Thousand years by Christina Perry. I first heard the song when I watched Twilight and fell in love with it. Dan listened to it and agreed that it was a beautiful song for us to have our first dance to.
Here’s a little preview of Dan and Stacey’s autumn wedding at the Coniston Hotel in Skipton. Enjoy!
Morning wedding photography at the Coniston hotel in Skipton
Photographing bridal preparation is a great place to start capturing you story. Some brides get a little nervous about me turning up before makeup is done, but please don’t worry about this. I never photograph anything that makes people uncomfortable. I will stress that bridal prep is such a lovely part of the day to capture. There’s actually a lot going on but and there’s often a calm chunk of this time before the excitement and nerves start to build.
Getting ready at the wedding venue
As both Dan and Stacey were getting ready at the Coniston hotel, as Stacey was ready super early I was able to pop down to see Dan and the groomsmen ahead of the wedding ceremony. (I recommend a second photographer to capture grooms prep in more detail and this is something I offer)
The wedding ceremony in the Garnett room
This North Yorkshire wedding venue offers 4 different options for a wedding ceremony. The Garnett room suited Dan and Stacey wedding perfectly. How nice do those columns look? It was quite an emotional entrance for the wedding party, and the registrars led a really lovely wedding ceremony.
Their son Jack did an excellent job as pageboy, having a big responsibility of walking his mum down the aisle and looking after the rings.
Wedding photography at the Coniston Hotel
I love photographing at the Coniston in Skipton because there are many options for wedding photography. The view of the Coniston lake from the hotel is just beautiful and perfect for those all-important family photos and confetti photos whilst canapés and drinks are being served. We didn’t have the sunshine for this autumn wedding, but clouds are a photographs friend and the lack of sun, didn’t make the view any less spectacular.
Wedding planning hack No 1: Pre scheduling time for wedding photos when planning your wedding.
Wedding planning hack No 2: Book in an engagement shoot with your wedding photographer. This will allow you to feel more comfortable In front of the camera. (I include an engagement photoshoot with my all day wedding packages)
Autumn wedding photography at the Coniston lake and jetty
Autumn is such a magical time of photography. I recommend making time on your wedding schedule to visit the lake and jetty if you are getting married at the Coniston hotel. It is an absolute must! I could easily spend hours down at the lake taking lots of beautiful couple’s portraits, but I never like to take the bride and groom away from their guests for too long. Stacey and Dan had a good 20 minutes to themselves while I took some relaxed wedding photos with the lovely autumnal colours sounding them.
Getting married at the Coniston Hotel Country estate
Getting wed at the Coniston hotel is made easy for the couple and the guests. Everything is in one place so there isn’t extra cost for wedding cars and saves time in travel. It provides everything the bride and groom would need and guests can stay in the hotel and not worry about getting home as a few too many of your favourite tipple
