Do you remember this time last year? I remember it well. There was so much uncertainty around and no one knew from day to day what rules would change. For couples getting married, it was extremely stressful and I remember willing Natalie and Matt’s wedding could go ahead. They were determined to get married no matter what. They're plans were turned upside down just days before their wedding day. But they managed to make new plans and adjust (which must have felt like the 100th time) and I can’t really imagine how much it must take away all the normal happy feelings in the lead up to a wedding.
Now I describe myself as a Yorkshire wedding photographer, so it’s not very often I cross over the boarder to shoot a Lancashire wedding, but I loved the picturesque village I travelled to. Their wedding was to take place as planned at the Shireburn Arms in Hurst Green near Clitheroe.
Due to the covid rules, their wedding reception was moved to the Coniston hotel in Skipton. This also meant bridal preparation was moved to The Lodge at Eaves Hall. (Eaves Hall is also a popular wedding venue in Lancashire)
The morning with the girls was so calm and quiet. Natalie was really feeling the nerves before we headed to the Shireburn Arms. The room ceremony room at the Shireburn Arms looked beautiful as the winter sunshine spilled through the window. Matt and the groomsmen were in high spirits as I arrived and the flower girls looked so sweet as they walked down the aisle before Natalie made her entrance looking absolutely stunning in her Ava Rose wedding dress.
After the all-important vows and ring exchange, we made time for family photos in the garden. You really get a sense of the true countryside here. It was then time to make our way back to Yorkshire’s Coniston Hotel and spa in Skipton to enjoy the wedding reception. It wasn’t a reception as we know them, but after such little contact and socialising, it was so lovely to see families come together and celebrate such a special day. Before the wedding breakfast we decided to take advantage of the beautiful December sunshine in the stunning grounds of Coniston Hotel. The Coniston Hotel has stunning grounds and lake make this North Yorkshire wedding venue very desirable for some lovely couple’s portraits. The weather always seems to be lovely when I’m photographing here, even in winter. By the way, here’s some tips if you do want to plan for ahead in case if does rain on your wedding day.
What did Natalie and Matt say about their wedding photos
Gemma did an amazing job as our wedding photographer and on our engagement shoot. She was really creative and made us feel at ease. We're over the moon with our wedding pictures, would definitely recommend her and will be using her again in the future!
Here’s just a few of my favourite photos that tell the story of Natalie and Matt’s intimate winter wedding at the Shireburn Arms and the Coniston Hotel in North Yorkshire.
If you are interested in booking me as your Shireburn Arms wedding photographer or wedding married at the Coniston Hotel and looking for a natural wedding photographer, I’d love to hear from you.
