Wedding photography at the Devonshire Fell Hotel in Burnall, North Yorkshire
A beautiful highlight collection of Katie and Rich’s summer wedding in the Yorkshire Dales.
Overlooking the meandering River Wharfe and the idyllic village of Burnsall, with its charming stone cottages and picturesque countryside, stands the exquisite Devonshire Fell Hotel. This hidden gem, a sister property to the renowned Devonshire Arms in Bolton Abbey, offers a tranquil escape in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. The hotel's privileged position provides breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding natural beauty. It’s no wonder at all that Katie and Rich chose Burnsall and the Devonshire Fell as their wedding venue.
I met Katie and Rich years ago and from the moment we started talking, I knew they were so easy to get along with. It was wonderful getting to know them during their planning stage and their engagement photoshoot with Katie's infectious energy and Rich's quick wit.

First look moments really stick out in my mind during bridal preparation. Katie and her dad both got a little emotional as he entered the room and saw his daughter in her wedding dress for the first time. Katie had an excellent tactic to avoid crying, and one I share with other brides to be if they get emotional at this point. It was to think of Dwight’s Schrute. It only works if you’ve seen The Office.
As Rich looked out the window of the beautiful rolling hills, the anticipation of his bride's imminent arrival mingled with a stirring of emotions - a blend of excitement, nervousness, and an overwhelming sense of love were somewhat evident now.
I absolutely adore capturing magical moments through wedding photography at the stunning Devonshire Fell. What makes this location truly special is not just the breathtaking grounds that boast picturesque scenery, but also the delightful soundscapes that surround the hotel. But also the proximity of the river and the charming bridge make them easily accessible, just a short walk down the hill. It’s just perfect for wedding photography. I drove the newlyweds to the river as Katie was a little restricted in her fitted dress and not as speedy as she used to.
Capturing a few bride and groom portraits is always a cherished moment and a little time out for the newly-weds. These intimate snapshots freeze the genuine emotions and love shared between the couple, providing them with the treasured memories they wanted from their special day. But it also gives them that little time to take a breather, a few moments to themselves, to take it all.
Katie and Rich, passionate food enthusiasts, made a bold choice for their wedding by opting for a fully vegetarian and vegan wedding. Their commitment to their dietary preferences extended even to their wedding favour sweets, which were thoughtfully selected to be vegan-friendly. The food was delicious!
Katie & Rich, it was such a pleasure to be your wedding photographer of your gorgeous summer wedding at the Devonshire Fell. Thank you!
