Here’s a little interview with the newly-weds with their highlights for their North Yorkshire wedding at the Priests House at Barden Tower. The day started at bridal prep at the Woolly Sheep in Skipton.
History of the Priests House and Barden Tower
Built in the 13th century, the Priests House at Barden Tower is steeped in history. Check out it’s long history before it become the stunning wedding venue you see today. Upon entering the Priest House, the interior transports visitors to another era. The carefully restored timber beams whisper the secrets of centuries past. Each room exudes a sense of simple elegance, adorned with period-appropriate furnishings that perfectly blend with the building's character. The uninterrupted views of the Yorkshire Dales from the light-filled windows evoke a sublime sense of peace and harmony. With a cosy sitting area in the Oak room and meandering garden pathways invites wedding guests to relax and immerse themselves in the beauty of the surroundings.
What were your key investment for your wedding?
The string quartet were absolutely fantastic and sounded wonderful in the high-ceilinged former old chapel. So many people complimented us on the music choices, so they were definitely worth the money.

How did you feel as you walked down the aisle?
Cheesy as it sounds, turning the corner to walk down the aisle and seeing my now husband looking back at me, and knowing that I’d made the right decision, I doubt there will ever be a moment in my life like that again.
Often the aspect that makes a wedding unique to the couple is the detail, what was important to you both?
Rhys: An important part of the wedding, was the elements of Welsh being included. We had readings done in Welsh, as well as some elements of the vows.
Charlotte: For me, being in Yorkshire, amongst the landscape.
What did you love about your chosen wedding venue -the Priests House?
The place was historic, beautiful, and surrounded by gorgeous Yorkshire countryside. It was great that catering and flowers were arranged in house, taking some stress off of the planning.
Do you have any useful tips for engaged couples that are wedding planning?
Canapés, it can be a long time from breakfast to the Wedding Breakfast, so make sure to get some canapés. Also Beware of Duck Poo!
(there are a lot of ducks by Barden Tower. Unfortunately Charlotte had a considerable amount on her dress after photos in front of Barden Tower. I’m always on hand to clean duck poo of a dress if needs be, a photographer is not only a photographer.)
Was there moment or a part of your day that really sticks out?
Rhys: Surrounded by family and friends on a day celebrating yourself and the love of your life. I doubt anything could have made me not feel as happy as I was. Even if the sun didn’t shine as much as we hoped, even if I stumbled across a sentence or two on my vows and had to start again.
