Falcon Manor Hotel Wedding Photography

Wedding Photography at the Falcon Manor in Settle

I was thrilled to return to Settle for Michael and Megan's lovely spring wedding at the Falcon Manor in North Yorkshire. The morning began with bridal preparations in the Falcon Manor bridal suite, where Megan, accompanied by her very supportive bridesmaids and mother showed a sense of calm. There was a heartfelt first look with her father, which stirred emotions and creating a touching moment. In contrast, Michael exuded composure throughout the morning until the poignant moment of Megan walking down the aisle. The day flowed so well, and I think the speeches need a mention as they moved everyone to tears, leaving not a single dry eye in the room. Here’s a little sneak peek of their special wedding day at the Falcon Manor with a Q&A from the newly-weds.

Tell us about how you met and the proposal

Megan: We met whilst we were both working at o2. We quickly began speaking and after a few months, we began seeing each other. 1 year after our first date Michael popped the question at a restaurant. He wanted to do it at midnight on new year’s eve outside the Queen’s Hotel in Leeds near the big Christmas tree, but I was tired and didn’t want to go out after food so some improvisation was required.

What were your first and important steps for wedding planning?

We wanted to make sure the venue was perfect for what we wanted. Megan always wanted a big house in the middle of nowhere which Falcon Manor in Settle was perfect for with the views in the background.

Looking back, did the day go as expected?

It went perfectly, we couldn’t have asked for a better day!

 Tell us about the dress

Megan: The dress was from Ava Rose Hamilton in Silsden. I always imagined sleeves on my wedding dress, and knew I wanted texture and lots of sparkle. When I tried the dress on, it was just perfect. My mum cried! It wasn’t what I initially planned, as it didn’t have sleeves, but still perfect.

What did you love about your chosen wedding venue and why did you choose the Falcon manor?

We fell in love with the location, the rustic style of the hotel itself, and we were sold by the friendly staff.

What are you feeling as you walked down the aisle/ waited for your bride?

Michael: Outside the ceremony room, everyone said that I was very calm for a Groom and I was far too relaxed for the day. I always thought to myself why be nervous when I’m in a room with all the people we love and I’m about to marry the girl of my dreams.

Megan: I was quite nervous at everyone staring at me and it took me a while to notice Michael as I was looking around at everyone. Then I saw him tearing up at the bottom of the aisle, which floored me. As soon as I got to him, and holding is hand for dear life, I felt a lot better and safe.

What was the most important wedding investments for you and why?

For Megan it was the dress, which she got a lot of compliments from wedding guests and staff. For me, it was the rings, as I wanted something designed to last for such as special occasion, and it nicely matched my watch for the day which I have a passion for.

Did you have a theme through the wedding day?

Harry Potter is a big part of our lives, so we wanted to include as much as we can, but subtly of course. Most name cards, signs and the decoration had some small Harry Potter details included.

Is there anyone that you want to shout out?

The day wouldn’t have happened without our parents and Megan’s Bridesmaids. They’ve supported us through so much and took on a lot to get us to this point. Beth also for the wonderful reading during the ceremony and Michaels best woman, Lauren for her amazing speech.

Do you have any advice to share with couples planning their wedding?

It’s important to listen to each other and bring things that you’re both passionate about. Although it can feel overwhelming at times, it really does come together closer to the wedding day.

Why did you choose your wedding photographer?

When we were researching for wedding photographers, we really liked Gemma’s style of photography, keeping photos light, airy and natural. When we spoke to Gemma, she was very friendly, professional and we will recommend her to anyone who is planning a special occasion.

Do you have favourite memory from your day?

Michael: The speeches were amazing and we all had amazing feedback from them. For me as well, I loved every moment of seeing Megan in that amazing dress. The venue did a great job of making sure we had time together after the ceremony which I’m glad for, because when we were alone I couldn’t stop crying.

Megan: Getting ready with my Bridesmaids and mum at bridal preparation. Receiving presents from them and the letters from all my Hens. Michael’s wedding present which was a preserved Rose encased like beauty and the beast, and a letter he handwrite for me. The speeches and dancing were also incredible. So to answer this quicker, all of it!

Anything you’d like to add

Gemma, thank you for everything. From putting our minds at ease at our engagement photoshoot, to the entire wedding day. She couldn’t do enough for us and went above and beyond what we ever expected to help us capture our perfect day. We will be forever grateful.
